The purpose of graduate programs with thesis is to enable the student to achieve the skills of attaining, assessing, and interpreting information through scientific research. Thesis is prepared in the form of a scientific research, and requires an intensive study period. Graduates thesis programs can apply to Ph.D. programs in many universities if they want to.

The purpose of non-thesis graduate programs is to enable the student to achieve in depth knowledge of occupational matters, and to show them how to put the existing knowledge into practice.
Ideally, students, who want to continue with their academic careers, are recommended programs with Thesis, whereas students, who want to continue with their professional life, are recommended Non-Thesis programs.

Graduates of Non-thesis programs can also apply to Doctoral Programs in many universities. They can apply with undergraduate diploma; however, they will be subject to integrated education program. ECTS calculation will be based on the program and they can start Ph.D. program after receiving 1 or 2 years of education.

Not necessarily, however, the Department Heads may decide to hold an interview if they find it necessary or if there are too many applicants (exceeding the quota).
